Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, gun safes and secure storage of firearms are required in several states in the US. However, there is no requirement for the safe storage of firearms under current federal law. A 2005 law requires that all handguns sold by dealers be accompanied by a secure gun safety device such as a cable lock.

One of the best places to hide a safe is within home closets. Typically, the bedroom closet is seen as one of the most effective, as this will allow for easy access in the event of a nighttime security breach.

One of the best places to hide a safe is within home closets. Typically, the bedroom closet is seen as one of the most effective, as this will allow for easy access in the event of a nighttime security breach.

According to the California Attorney General, the safest way to store a gun is with a state-approved firearm safety device and by keeping the weapon in a locked container. Owners should also ensure that the firearm is not loaded.

A safe will give your gun a layer of protection from the elements, theft and little ones' hands. Storing your gun in a safe is the first step to prevent rust, but you also need to consider the temperature and moisture control of the environment around the safe. We suggest storing your firearm in your home if you can.

The product arrived with good padding. The cabinet built fairly well, however, the rack for holding the gun barrels is not finished well. It was very rough, even going so far as scraping my hand when touching it. The black coating deteriorated on touch. The bracket that it is mounted to has exposed metal underneath with what appears to be a slight red hue (maybe not necessarily rust, I hope).

This is more of a rifle cabinet with components of a safe. It will definitely keep out the hands of people you dont want in however a criminal will definitely be able to get in that is determined. I have it mounted to the floor and the wall and it is sturdy. Holds about two rifles with a scope and a few pistols.

This thing is good for what it is, it’s a low cost semi-secure gun safe. My main complaint is that it really needs some options for other shelves in it. I have 2 long guns in there and there is easily 18″ of space above the top of them before it gets to the locking top box so that’s all just wasted space above there. If nothing else maybe a couple little rims with a cheap shelf? As of now my only options are to weld a new one in, drill through holes for a shelf, or make a janky mount with 1x lumber. Would be nice to be able to put my handguns and ammo on separate shelf like that versus the Jenga puzzle for ammo boxes I have going now. Also – be aware that it’ll need a day or two to air out, or more. If you’re very sensitive to the typical Chinese factory smell I would consider other options unless you have a place you can leave it open with a fan blowing on it for awhile. I took it out of the box in a large room, 12′ ceilings and about 20×25 area 25′ from my front door and my wife could immediately smell it when she walked in the house 4 hours later.

One minor note: you have to use regular AA batteries. Rechargable batteries will not work. Not sure why but I think it’s because rechargeables are 1.2 volts and regular AA’s are 1.5 volts. Tried multiple brands of rechargeables including Amazon Basics, Ikea brand and Eneloop.

The best quality for the price. Don’t use rechargeable batteries though! NIMH don’t hold enough voltage and the lock will not release. RPNB customer service was great, fast to respond, and they helped me solve this issue quickly. Use ALKALINE batteries as directed, a good brand name, and you won’t have any problems. I looked at other security cabinets in this price range and they were really crappy with bolted together sheetmetal and flimsy locks and hinges. This one looks really nice, is fairly strong and will keep curious kids and smash and grab burglars out. MAKE SURE to bolt this to the wall or floor, or both! There are pre-drilled holes in the back and bottom for this. I had to buy my own concrete anchors as the ones provided weren’t long enough to reach through the drywall to the concrete block. I did use wood spacers behind the drywall to keep it from getting crushed while tightening the anchors. I also notched out my baseboards to fit this flush against my closet wall.

This safe is great if you’re on a budget and don’t want to spend too much. The size is perfect for my closet. Only thing I would add is a shelf underneath the safe inside. Other than that, I highly recommend

This safe is of good quality I enjoy the simple yet sturdy looks it gives off. The ammo box top fits a whole lot more than I thought it would. The only bad thing I have to say about it is if you have rifles with pistol grips on them you have to kind of turn them so they are slightly facing toward the sides of the safe to get the big door to shut all the way.

This is a budget gun safe. It works, you may have to take mags out of rifles and it may not fit 5 long guns with sights attached. But it is a reliable functioning gun safe that weighs 100lbs that can be anchored to the floor. 4 stars because the safe was malfunctioning when I tried to unlock it, but it turned out it was sent to me with almost dead AAA batteries that was causing a unlocking malfunction. RECOMMEND NOT USING BATTERIES SUPPLIED WITH GUN SAFE.

Good safe. Well built. Thick. Easy to install. If you’re looking to store AR platforms, or large scoped rifles, they’ll have to go in sideways and limit space capacity. Door thickness prohibits putting in rifles normally (especially not loaded ones). If that’s important to you would suggest going another direction for something deeper internally.

As the headline says, this came in a box fully assembled ready to install. The inner box is small, but works fine for extra magazines and such. Adding a hanging gun storage solution made this a fully functioning gun locker for 4 rifles, 1 extra shotgun barrel and 6 handguns hanging on the door. The lock mechanism is kinda awkward (2 separate knobs to open one door) but not terrible. For the price i would recommend this to anyone that needs a gun locker, but not a safe.

Good safe for the basic protection of your weapons. Will it keep a professional thief out, no. But for us it was a matter of keeping our kids away from our weapons and this safe is perfect for that. Heavy, well built. It will need to be mounted to a wall as the door is heavy enough to make the safe too heavy when the door is opened. Storage shelf on top is rather small but larger enough for about 600 rounds of 9mm/.45 cal.

This one seems to be the strongest one in this price range five posts to lock the door all the others had three and the materials seemed thin.. this one is pretty thick and well made.. it would be hard to break into.. ammo cabinet and or valuable safe inside is strong also separate keys.. you could probably fit a couple pistols and or ammo in there.. I’ll probably get a hanger for my pistols that will go in the larger area of the safe.. and just put ammo in the box.. not really enough room for both.. it shipped fast and not damaged at all..

Really satisfied. Room to hold 4 rifles. I think it’s very secure after being bolted to wall and floor. Not as good as a safe, but will do the job. Has a shelf/locker inside as well. Came very well packaged.

They did an amazing job with the packaging and delivery of the safe, reviews about chipped corners and what not made me weary but I gave it a shot.. this thing is heavy.. and high quality.. one complaint I have is the mounting stuff provided is for concrete, not wood. No problem tho I had some jag screws that worked perfect. Also had to cut the key for the safebox inside because I don’t want that locked and wanted a handle on it, but the key is too big to shut the main door if it’s in the small door, but good pair of shears fixed that problem. Honestly very happy with this purchase

Feels very secure. We keep our guns cash and meds in here. I’m sure it’s not your 100% heavy duty gun fanatic safe. But we’re not in any position to spend thousands. We anchored it down and it’s perfect for us. My teenagers are definitely not smart enough to figure it out. That was the point.

We wanted a basic gun locker designed solely to store weapons when we were out of the house, because we have kids. This thin-walled safe will not keep a moderately determined thief out, but it keeps things away from any curious preteen friends of our kids. We are able to store a 20ga, 12ga, AR with scope and mag, all side by side, slightly at an angle. Ammo boxes stacked up nicely on the back wall. The small upper safe holds two (sometimes three) semi auto pistols and mags. The programing instructions were a little hit and miss but we got there. Overall, a good buy. Shipping box was dinged up and it took 4 weeks to get here, so fair warning. Not in a hurry? You’re all good.

I ordered this “safe” as I wanted secure storage for a reasonable price, and have found it to be an excellent value. The safe arrived quickly and was well packaged with foam protection, cardboard inserts, etc, however it is heavy (probably 120lb) and I’m sure got manhandled around a bit during shipping. The finish on mine was in good shape, no scratches, etc. I did have one very minor dent / ding, which I’m sure was due to shipping, but it’s hardly noticeable and I don’t blame the manufacturer as the packaging was good. I think a large, heavy item such as this is probably just not treated too gently during shipping, and that’s not the manufacturers fault. Overall, mine arrived in great shape and I’m very happy with the quality (welded with no visible seams, etc). The electronics on mine work perfectly and lock was very easy to program. The steel is pretty thick (I give it 4 stars). It’s not as heavy a gauge as some more expensive “safes,” but is substantially thicker than gun “cabinets” I’ve looked at. It’s right what I was hoping for in this price range. My package also came with a small safe as well, which was a nice add on. Both safes were easy to bolt to the floor (or shelf for the small one) on the bottom, and a wall from the back. I did add some larger washers to make them more secure when bolting in. The safe will easily hold 5 long guns even with scopes on a couple. Not sure you could have scopes on all 5 though. Not sure if it will hold a shotgun with a 28″ barrel (I haven’t tried yet). It will also accommodate a couple of handguns in velcro holsters on the inner door and velcro sticks great to the inner door “carpet.” I like the way the door is recessed when closed. It would be very difficult to pry, and even if the hinges were somehow cut, you would still not be able to open the door as the hinged side is recessed behind the outer edge of the safe when the door is closed.I did have one minor issue with the inner storage compartment door (key) lock on my large safe, which RPNB resolved very quickly and very much to my satisfaction. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect customer service wise, but RPNB responded within 24 hours to my inquiry and their customer service was outstanding! I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Customer Service is critical and they did a fantastic job!Overall, I wanted a secure option for a reasonable price, and this safe is perfect for my needs. It’s not fireproof, or as heavy duty as a larger, more expensive safe, but it’s thicker and much better quality than a typical gun “cabinet.” It feels absolutely secure to keep children or curious persons safe from accessing firearms, and also feels like a reasonably solid deterrent from a criminal theft standpoint as well. I’m very pleased with this purchase and definitely recommend it! For the money, it’s perfect for me, and I love it!

Packaging a little ruffed up, but everything looks fine. Programed it with in 5 mins after opening it. The video here on Amazon was direct and to the point. Can’t wait to have a permeant home, what to use the anchor bolts to stable it’s small footprint.

As expected, and worth the money. One star taken off for the use of the word ‘safe’ in the product name, and for slightly sub-par packaging. Otherwise, don’t hesitate to buy if this is your price point, as it has less deficits than many others.First, the good:* Doesn’t sacrifice width for depth, which some cheap cabinets do.* Fits in just about any closet.* Can actually fit 5 long guns as described (although, maybe not all with scopes. I can’t comment there. It might be deep enough.)* Wooden barrel holder is sturdier than some foam options.* Solid hardware included for bolting the unit down.* PIN lock seems to work as advertised.* No extraneous carpet materials lining the walls to absorb moisture. Just the floor and inner door panel. Now the bad. Most of these apply to all similarly-priced cabinets, so keep that in mind.* It’s not a safe, despite the product name. This will not keep determined miscreants away from your firearms if they have access to the cabinet and a pry bar. I would hope everyone shopping for a < $300 product knows this.* The door panel is quite thin (although, by all accounts, a bit thicker than some others at this price).* The packaging wasn't really sufficient to protect the contents. Major scuffing and rubbing on the corners. In my case, it was cosmetic only.* Don't expect to store much ammo (or anything else) in the top lockable shelf. It would be better as an open shelf, really, but this is what everyone seems to make.* Pre-drilled holes are all on a center line and therefore not ideal for security. Great for keeping the unit from tipping over with the door open, though.

If you are in the market for a safe…this is a fantastic product. Very well built! Cannot beat this for the price. Fits perfectly in my home office without taking up the entire room. I am using it for our important documents, my Grandfather’s bamboo fly fishing rod, and I keep adding things all the time. This is the first safe I have owned and I don’t know why I waited so long. I would recommend this to everyone…not just the gun enthusiast.

This is my first time buying a rifle safe but second one for this brand. It was packed well and arrived undamaged. It should keep things secure except for determined thieves. I drilled holes in the bottom of each corner to secure it to the floor. The wall mount holes though the back, didn’t provide enough holding strength. I recommend the manufacture either just make the compartment at the inside top an open shelf, or at least have a locking metal door. The plastic parts including the battery compartment are a bit of cheap though. Overall, for a 100lbs gun safe for less than $300 bucks, I think it’s good value for the money.
